As a member you will be able and expected to attend the regular meetings of the club. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month. Our members meet at The Historic William Penn Inn, 1017 DeKalb Pike, Gwynedd PA at 11:45am to dine together before our 1:00pm meeting and program. Lunch costs $30-40 and includes a salad, entree, and dessert–purchasing our meals allows us to use the beautiful banquet room for our meetings. LPDC has a governing board of directors consisting of elected and appointed members who meet once a month before the membership meeting.
Our doll-related programs at each meeting are educational as well as enjoyable. At many meetings, there will be a comprehensive display of items for the program–from the speaker’s collection and from our members. Many members enjoy buying and selling doll related items so we provide a sales table at each monthly meeting for this purpose. Any member may bring items to sell, but space is limited.
You won’t want to miss the workshops, special lunches, trips to museums, shops and doll shows/sales. Since LPDC is affiliated with the United Federation of Doll Clubs, you may also want to attend some of the regional and national conventions held throughout the country.
“Doll News” magazine will be mailed directly from UFDC four times a year. “Doll News” is the best all-round publication for doll collectors. We also send a newsletter to all members each month.
Applicants should have a strong interest in dolls and their historical and cultural significance. Preservation and conservation of antique and vintage dolls are of primary importance to Letitia Penn Doll Club, especially since so many doll museums have been lost to us in recent decades. New members will be invited to share some dolls (indicative of their interests) from their collection at a meeting during their first year of membership.
To become a member, you must attend three meetings before submitting your application to the Membership Chairman. Your application for membership will be voted upon by the club members at the next meeting. We have an initial one-time fee of $15 and our yearly dues are $60.
Associate Membership is offered to those who because of health or distance are not able to attend meetings. Associate members do not qualify to hold office or to vote.
